چکیده

Abstract Chronic helminth infection has been considered a serious public health issue. Due to the widespread of helminthiasis, people co-infected with and other pathogens, such as virus, may be common. Studies suggest that exert immunomodulatory effects alter host susceptibility subsequent unrelated pulmonary Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, outcome helminth-respiratory viral co-infection remains controversial. Here, we established an enteric Heligomosomoides polygyrus bakeri(Hpb)-influenza virus mouse model, then characterized immune responses modulated by Hpb in lungs chronically infected mice. Our results showed helminth-infected mice exhibited increased survival reduced weight loss after lethal influenza compared helminth-inexperienced Further analysis revealed altered landscape increasing effector CD4 +and CD8 +T cells infiltrated into airway, well upregulating type I interferons pro-inflammatory cytokines lung tissues before infection. After infection, titers were significantly decreased, whereas viral-specific antibody cellular Moreover, histological examination cell infiltration parenchyma airway lumen was Taken together, these suggested confers “bystander” protection against Supported grants from MOST (109-2320-B-002-074-MY3), NHRI (EX110/111-11033SI) NTU (111L7829), Taiwan

Baculovirus induces an innate immune response and confers protection from lethal influenza virus infection in mice.

A recombinant baculovirus expressing the hemagglutinin gene of the influenza virus, A/PR/8/34 (H1N1), under the control of the chicken beta-actin promoter, was constructed. To determine the induction of protective immunity in vivo, mice were inoculated with the recombinant baculovirus by intramuscular, intradermal, i.p., and intranasal routes and then were challenged with a lethal dose of the i...

Virus-specific interferon action. Protection of newborn Mx carriers against lethal infection with influenza virus

The efficacy of interferon in antiviral protection of newborn mice differing at the Mx locus was investigated. Adult mice bearing the allele Mx exhibit a high degree of specific resistance toward lethal challenge with influenza viruses. In contrast, newborn Mx carriers are virtually as susceptible to influenza viruses as newborn mice devoid of Mx. Resistance can be abrogated by treating adult a...

Helminth Parasites Alter Protection against Plasmodium Infection

More than one-third of the world's population is infected with one or more helminthic parasites. Helminth infections are prevalent throughout tropical and subtropical regions where malaria pathogens are transmitted. Malaria is the most widespread and deadliest parasitic disease. The severity of the disease is strongly related to parasite density and the host's immune responses. Furthermore, coi...

Activated mouse eosinophils protect against lethal respiratory virus infection.

Eosinophils are recruited to the airways as a prominent feature of the asthmatic inflammatory response where they are broadly perceived as promoting pathophysiology. Respiratory virus infections exacerbate established asthma; however, the role of eosinophils and the nature of their interactions with respiratory viruses remain uncertain. To explore these questions, we established acute infection...
